Cabinet Hardware

I know, I know...I don't even have cabinet doors yet (and probably won't for a long time)! But I found these on ebay and couldn't resist :) I think they look so true to the age of the home. I put them on all the hall cabinets, pantry, etc., to create a flow throughout the house...

For all of the cabinet drawers...
For all of the cabinet doors...

Drake's Room

Only those of you who have attempted to work with wallpaper will appreciate this...but here goes. This is Drake's room...not very masculine to say the least :)  We had hoped that we'd be able to take down the wallpaper...but we discovered that removing 125 year old wallpaper would be EXTREMELY time consuming and may or may not open a can of worms! So, we set out to paint OVER the wallpaper...
BEFORE...
AFTER!
2 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint, 2 wonderful friends, and about 15 hours of painting later we got this! Somewhere in between the 1st and 2nd coats of paint, Drake came into the room and told Barbara, Christina, and I, "I'm so glad to not have flowers in my room anymore!" Oh, little Drake, thanks for making all the hard work worth it!

I'm Back!

I have internet again! We are nowhere even close to any "after" photos...but here are some "in-between" photos to tide you over :) and no baby news yet...at my last appointment, she said I have started the process...I am dialated to a 1 and effaced about 25-50%...to those mothers out there, you know that is barely anything...but a start none the less! We get carpet on Tuesday and I am HOPING to hold out to then! That way Mom and Liliya will have beds to come home to instead of mattresses on the floor!!!
Just trying to give you an idea of where we are placing appliances, etc. there is so little counter space we didn't want to take up any with a microwave! so we put one of those pull out drawer microwaves in the island. I am actually loving it! It's nice to have the kids be able to cook their food without having to climb up on the counter :)
I've never had a gas range/oven before...still not even sure I deserve one with my lack of cooking skills, but am enjoying it none the less :)
This is our living room. We had the floors re-finished. They, by no means, look new...but they are clean with lots of character...which is very fitting to the home! My friend Barbara came over and wiped down everything for me and used a wood finishing oil on the fireplace and I think it looks beautiful! It is definitely the center-piece of the living room :)
This will give you a better look at how the old floors turned out. This was what they used to call the "parlor." We will try to restore it to that with some fun old furniture, etc. But for now the walls are getting a face-lift from our friend/contractor Von. More pics from this room to follow...
If you think it's easy helping Mom and Dad on all of these endeavors, you'd be WRONG! Sometimes it's so exhausting you fall asleep flat on your face on a hard floor!
